I was tasked with project managing the creation of a special limited edition version of Imogen Heap’s fourth studio album - Sparks - to appeal specifically to her loyal global fanbase.
Imogen is a highly creative musician, artist and innovator who is very much in touch with her audience and keen to explore new ways to add value to her material and provide her fans with memorable products.
For the Sparks album she had very personal experiences to share around the creation of each song and wanted to find a unique way to deliver something special and very personal to her keenest followers.
Having worked successfully with Imogen on her previous release, she approached me to discuss ideas for the creation of a special box set for her Sparks album.
I was introduced to her designer, Andy Carne, and over the course of several meetings with him, Imogen and her management team, a concept was devised, agreed and I was tasked with managing the production of a very complex project from beginning to end, working very closely with the entire team.
Along with the creation and testing of several elements of the packaging and materials contained within, was the task of the logistics required to bring everything together and ensure deadlines were adhered to throughout.
The project was in excess of a year in the making and Imogen and her team were delighted with the final product which included a coffee style book, two pieces of vinyl, 12 casebound CD books, a pack of exclusive playing cards and the incredible production of a unique gift certificate made with Imogen’s own paper created from materials that featured in the creation of each of the individual tracks that made up the album.
The release was nominated for a US Grammy in 2015 in the category of Best Boxed or Special Limited Edition Package.
